try again

joy

Romans 15:13

Grace and peace be with you right now friend! Disappointment can wreck your trust—not just in people or situations, but sometimes... in God. You prayed. You fasted. You even believed. But then it happened. Or didn’t happen. The relationship fell through. The job didn’t come. The healing didn’t hit. The timeline didn’t match. The dream? Delayed… again.

And so here you are, scrolling with a side of skepticism, wondering if it’s even safe to hope again.

You’re not alone.

hope can feel like a setup

Disappointment is sneaky.
It tells you, “Play it safe.”
Don’t expect too much. Don’t dream too big. Don’t pray that boldly.
Because last time, it hurt too much.

But God doesn’t ghost you in disappointment—He gently rebuilds you in it.
Not with quick fixes, but with presence. Not with fluff, but with fire-tested hope.

a second-chance savior

Let’s talk Peter.
You know—the loud, passionate disciple who swore he’d never betray Jesus. The one who literally walked on water, saw miracles with his own eyes...

And then denied Jesus. Not once. Three times.

Can you imagine that level of regret?

But Jesus didn’t cancel Peter.
He came back for him.
He cooked him breakfast on a beach. (John 21)
He asked Peter three times, “Do you love Me?”
Each “yes” became a fresh start.

Peter went from a denier to a preacher who helped launch the Church.
Disappointment wasn’t his end—it was his doorway.

And if God did it for Peter, He can absolutely do it for you.

so... how do you hope again?

Here’s what it looks like to rebuild your hope when your faith feels like it's barely holding on:

1. Start With the Truth

God isn’t intimidated by your honesty.
Say it like it is:
“God, I’m tired of trying.”
“God, I’m scared to believe again.”
“God, I’m numb.”

That’s not weak faith—that’s raw trust.

2. Name Your Pain

Write it out in a journal. Be specific about what disappointed you:
• The rejection letter
• The breakup
• The failed opportunity
• The delay in healing

Healing starts where honesty begins.

3. Look Back at the Faithfulness

What has God done?
What did work out that you forgot to thank Him for?
Look for the “Ebenezers”—the stones of remembrance that say, “God helped me here.”

Write down 3. Rehearse them when you feel weary.

4. Make a Micro-Move

Don’t try to “leap” into hope.
Take a step.
• Sign up for that small group.
• Reach out to a mentor.
• Open your Bible again—even if it’s just one verse.

Small faith still moves big mountains.

5. Let Worship Do the Talking

When your mouth can’t form the words, let music carry the hope for you.
That’s where your Hope Playlist comes in.

You don’t need to manufacture hope.
Let God, the Source, fill you with it.
Your job? Just trust Him again.
Even if it’s shaky. Even if it’s a whisper.

Maybe you feel like you’ve lost too much.
Like hope is too heavy to carry again.
But I know this:

Hope is not weak.
Hope is warfare.
Hope is worship.

And the very place you feel disappointed...
Could be the exact place God wants to meet you.

So try again.
Not because you’re strong.
But because He still is.

Amen!

in harmony,

nancy
