trust
Isaiah 41:10
Grace and peace be with you right now friend! Anxiety is one of those things that can feel so overwhelming, it’s like a tidal wave crashing down when you least expect it. You might find yourself feeling anxious before a big meeting, a major life decision, or even just scrolling through social media and wondering if you’re enough. And let me just say, I get it. We’ve all been there, and it’s no easy ride. But the good news? You don’t have to go through it alone. God’s got you, even when it feels like the weight of the world is pressing down on your chest.
the truth
Here’s a tough but important truth: everyone experiences anxiety at some point. Whether it’s the feeling of nervous butterflies before a performance or the kind of anxiety that makes it hard to breathe, it’s real. But here’s the thing: anxiety doesn’t define you. It’s a part of your story, but it’s not the story.
Anxiety comes in many forms—fear of the unknown, the need for control, or even the pressure to be perfect (hello, social media highlight reels). But there’s a powerful reminder in the Bible that speaks right to the heart of this struggle:
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” —Philippians 4:6-7
Wow, right? It’s like God’s way of saying, “Hey, I see you, and I’ve got this.”
why trust God
Trusting God with your anxiety might sound easier said than done, but let’s break it down. When you give your worries over to Him, you’re essentially saying, “I’m not in control, but You are.” And isn’t that freeing? I mean, think about it—if God, the Creator of the universe, can hold the stars in place, surely He can handle the things that keep us up at night.
But how do you actually trust God with your anxiety when everything feels like it’s spiraling? Here are a few practical steps:
1. Name It and Give It to God
The first step is recognizing that anxiety doesn’t have to be a silent passenger in your life. Name your fears and worries. Speak them out loud or write them down in your journal, and then, in prayer, give them to God. This act of surrender is powerful. When we acknowledge our anxiety, we take away its power to control us.
2. Meditate on God’s Promises
One of the best ways to combat anxiety is to fill your mind with God’s truth. When you’re feeling overwhelmed, meditating on scriptures like Isaiah 41:10 (“So do not fear, for I am with you…”) can remind you of God’s constant presence. It’s like having a playlist of promises on repeat, drowning out the noise of worry.
3. Take it One Day at a Time
Anxiety often has us living in the future—worried about what might happen. But Jesus, in all His wisdom, reminds us to focus on today. In Matthew 6:34, He says, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.” Trust Him with today, and trust that He’s already in your tomorrow, making a way.
4. Community is Key
We were never meant to do life alone. God places people in our lives to walk with us, especially during times of anxiety. Whether it’s a friend, a family member, or a mentor, share what you’re going through. Sometimes the very act of talking about our struggles is the first step toward healing.
5. Worship Your Way Through It
This one’s a game-changer. When anxiety creeps in, turn to worship. There's something so powerful about lifting your voice in praise, even when your heart feels heavy. It shifts the focus from your problems to God's greatness. One of my go-to songs is “Peace Be Still” by The Belonging Co. It’s like an anthem that reminds me to calm my anxious heart and lean into His peace.
what happens next
Here’s the part that might surprise you: overcoming anxiety doesn’t always mean that you’ll never experience it again. But it does mean that it won’t have the same hold on you as it once did. When you trust God with your fears, you gain a deep, unshakeable peace—one that doesn’t make sense in the middle of chaos but is rooted in something greater.
You begin to see life through a different lens. Instead of being paralyzed by “what-ifs,” you start living with the confidence that, no matter what comes, God is with you. You start trusting Him not only with the big stuff but with the small, everyday worries, too.
And let’s be real: that kind of peace? It’s priceless.
If you’re dealing with anxiety right now, take heart. You’re not broken. You’re human. But remember, you don’t have to carry this alone. God invites you to cast your cares on Him because He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). So next time anxiety starts knocking, pause, pray, and remind yourself that God’s got this—and He’s got you.
You are stronger than you think, and with God by your side, you’re more than a conqueror.
So breathe deep, hold on to His promises, and let His peace wash over you. You’ve got this because He’s got you. Amen!
in harmony,
nancy
