open
Proverbs 11:25
Grace and peace be with you right now friend! Imagine a world where we live with our hands wide open. Where we’re not afraid of what’s coming next or holding on tightly to what we have. What if giving wasn’t just about others but actually healed us from the inside out? I want to share why abundance over fear is more than a catchy phrase—it’s a way of life that transforms our hearts in the most beautiful ways.
the lie of lack
Fear of not having enough is real. We all experience it at some level. Maybe it’s financial stress, career doubts, or even fear of losing relationships. Society constantly feeds us a scarcity mindset: “Hold on to what you have, because you never know what tomorrow holds.” But here’s the thing about fear—it makes our hearts small. It closes us off from experiencing joy, connection, and true abundance.
As children of God, we’re reminded time and time again that God’s kingdom operates differently. Jesus teaches us that we don’t need to worry about tomorrow. “Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom” (Luke 12:32). How amazing is that? God doesn’t operate out of fear or lack; He operates out of abundance. And He invites us to do the same.
why giving transforms us
When we choose to give—even when it feels uncomfortable or risky—something incredible happens in our souls. It’s like we’re flipping a switch from scarcity to abundance. Generosity has this miraculous way of opening our hearts to love and to God’s provision.
Think about a time you gave freely. It could’ve been a small gift, a word of encouragement, or even just your time. Remember that warm feeling you had? That’s because giving is a reflection of God’s heart. We are made in His image, and He is the ultimate Giver. He gave us Jesus, His very best, out of love. When we give, we’re tapping into that same spirit of love and abundance.
how giving overcomes fear
Fear often makes us look inward. We worry about our own needs, our own insecurities, our own futures. But giving breaks that cycle. It forces us to look outward, to trust God’s provision, and to believe that He has more than enough for all of us. When we give, we’re declaring, “I trust that God will take care of me.” It’s like we’re saying to fear, “You don’t get to control me anymore!”
And here’s the beautiful irony: as we give, we actually receive. Proverbs 11:25 reminds us, “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” God’s math is different from ours. In His kingdom, we gain by giving, we’re filled when we pour out, and we become rich when we bless others.
ways to embrace abundance over fear
Start Small but Start Now
You don’t have to give extravagantly to start practicing abundance. Find small ways to give—buy someone’s coffee, lend a listening ear, volunteer your time. As you do, you’ll notice that it gets easier to give, and the fear of “not enough” begins to fade.Create a “Generosity Jar”
Dedicate a jar, envelope, or digital account where you set aside a little extra for giving each month. Use it to bless someone unexpectedly. It’s fun, and it creates a regular habit of giving.Give Beyond Money
Remember, abundance isn’t just about finances. Give your talents, your time, your love. Look for ways to offer encouragement, wisdom, or a helping hand. Abundance is about a lifestyle, not a dollar amount.Reflect on God’s Provision
When you feel afraid to give, remember times when God provided for you. Write down those moments of faithfulness. When fear tries to creep in, remind yourself that God has always been faithful—and He won’t stop now.
a heart healed through giving
What’s the ultimate reward for living out abundance over fear? Peace. When we give, we become part of something bigger than ourselves. We let go of our need to control, and we trust that God has our backs. Our hearts become softer, and our faith grows deeper. We start to live from a place of trust rather than anxiety, joy rather than doubt.
God invites us to live in the flow of His abundant love, where we’re so filled up that we can’t help but pour out to others. And as we do, we find that giving doesn’t just heal the world around us; it heals us.
So let’s make a choice: abundance over fear. Let’s be known as people who give freely, who trust deeply, and who reflect the limitless love of our generous God. Amen!

Pulse Check:
Start an Abundance Journal to track moments of giving (ie. money, time, energy or call out the fear you have lack of…) and God's provision. Each day, write down one thing you gave or one way God showed up for you. This practice will remind you of the abundance around you and reinforce a mindset of gratitude and trust.
