brave heart

1 John 4:18

Grace and peace be with you right now friend! Fear is sneaky. One minute, you’re fine, sipping your oat milk latte, and the next, you’re spiraling—panicking about the future, questioning if you’re on the right path, or worrying about things that haven’t even happened yet. Fear has a way of gripping us like a bad reality TV plot twist, but God’s love is the ultimate spoiler: It casts out all fear.

when fear creeps in

We’ve all been there. Maybe your heart races when you think about the unknown, or you lose sleep over “what if” scenarios that play on repeat in your mind. Or maybe you have irrational fears—like getting stuck in an elevator with an overly chatty stranger who wants to tell you their life story in real time. (Send help!)

But here’s the truth: Fear is loud, but it’s not in charge. God’s love is bigger.

the ultimate fear-buster

1 John 4:18 says,
"There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love."

God’s love isn’t just a warm, fuzzy feeling—it’s a force. A mighty, unshakable, fear-crushing force. When we truly grasp how deeply we are loved by Him, fear starts to lose its grip.

my own fear battle

A few years ago, I went through a season of intense anxiety. The unknowns of life felt overwhelming, and I found myself caught in a cycle of fear—fear of failure, fear of disappointing people, fear of making the wrong choice. But one night, in the middle of one of those spirals, I felt God whisper: "You are already held, no need to fear."

That changed everything. I wasn’t walking into uncertainty alone—I was walking with the One who holds the universe together.

practical steps to kick fear to the curb

If fear has been trying to take the lead in your life, here are a few ways to fight back:

Scripture Memorization: Write down 1 John 4:18 and repeat it when fear creeps in. Let God’s Word drown out the lies.

Worship Therapy: Music shifts the atmosphere. Build a playlist filled with songs that declare truth over your fears.

Pray Boldly: Ask God to flood your heart with His perfect love. He is near, and He hears every prayer.

fear doesn’t get the final say

Whatever you’re facing today, God’s love is the antidote to fear—let it flood your heart. You don’t have to figure everything out. You don’t have to have all the answers. You are loved by the One who does.

Let’s live in the freedom that comes from knowing we are fully loved, fully held, and fully safe in God’s hands. Fear has no chance here. Amen!
