beloved, be loved

Psalm 139:14

Grace and peace be with you right now friend! Real self-love? It’s deeper than aesthetics. It’s about seeing yourself the way God sees you—fearfully, wonderfully, and purposefully made. Ever looked in the mirror and not believed that? It’s easy to let flaws, failures, and fears distort the truth of who we are. But God—who never makes mistakes—designed you with intention. Loving yourself as He does isn’t arrogance; it’s agreeing with the One who formed you. If loving yourself only meant spa days and mood lighting, then why do so many of us still wrestle with insecurity the moment the candles burn out?

social media vs. reality: the self-love edition

Self-love, according to social media, looks like:

  • A perfectly aesthetic morning routine with a matcha latte.

  • Candles, bubble baths, and a new skincare haul.

  • A motivational quote slapped onto a sunset background.

But let’s be honest… self-love in reality is often:

  • Battling the struggle to accept your reflection in the mirror.

  • Not beating yourself up for not “having it all together.”

  • Wrestling with the idea that God actually calls you wonderfully made—even on the days when you feel anything but.

However, here’s the truth: real self-love is knowing your worth because of who made you.

the Word speaks

"I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." - Psalm 139:14

David, the Psalmist, knew he was handcrafted by God—and called it wonderful. Not because he was perfect, but because his Maker was.

The enemy wants to convince you that self-love is either selfish or unattainable. But God calls you to a love that’s different: one that starts with His truth.

self-love vs. self-worship

Here’s where a lot of us struggle—how do we love ourselves without crossing into arrogance?

Culture says: “You are enough. Period.”
God says: “You are enough in Me.

True self-love isn’t about pride; it’s about agreeing with God about who you are. He never asked you to be flawless—He just asks you to be His.

practical ways to love yourself as God does

Affirmations Based on Scripture
Instead of just saying, “I’m beautiful,” declare:

  • I am fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14).

  • I am chosen, holy, and dearly loved (Colossians 3:12).

  • I am God’s masterpiece, created for a purpose (Ephesians 2:10).

Gratitude Journaling
Every night, write down:

  • One way you saw God’s love today.

  • One thing you love about yourself.

  • One Scripture that reminded you of your worth.

Caring for Your Body as God’s Temple

Not because you have to, but because you get to. Move, nourish, and rest your body with the reverence it deserves—because it’s a dwelling place for the Holy Spirit. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)

loving yourself as God does is obedience, not vanity

When you choose to see yourself through God’s eyes, you’re not just boosting your confidence—you’re aligning with the truth of who you’ve always been.

So the next time you doubt your worth? Pause. Breathe. And remind yourself:

  • You are not an accident.

  • You are not too much or not enough.

  • You are a divine creation, wrapped in grace, and filled with purpose.

Loving yourself isn’t arrogance. It’s worship. It’s saying, “God, I trust You. I believe You when You say I’m fearfully and wonderfully made.” Amen!

in harmony,
